The short answer is yes, most if not all I3’s can support at least 16GB and the newer versions can support 32GB up to 64GB. Now for the little details, the memory dimm sizes are 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB ….. so to make it short there is not a single DIMM that is 12GB. So to get a total of twelve GB your laptop has to have at least 2 DIMM slots and you combine the different DIMM sizes for a total of 12GB.
